Vocabulary, grammar, reading and listening are covered every class, with curated notes and exercises that keep you progressing steadily while revisiting past topics through timely reviews.

Bunka Syokyu Nihongo 2 (文化初級日本語 II) — our own slides and workbooks, adapted from recognised Japanese teaching organisations such as the Japan Foundation.

Reading

Read and understand passages on familiar everyday topics, and grasp the main ideas of longer texts such as emails, notices and simple articles.

Listening

Follow everyday conversations spoken at a natural pace, understanding their overall content and key details.

Writing

Write connected sentences and short paragraphs about familiar topics — your experiences, plans, opinions and reasons, from diary entries to short letters.

Speaking · Interaction

Converse across a wider range of everyday situations — making arrangements, giving directions, explaining a problem — exchanging opinions and reasons clearly.

Speaking · Presentation

Give clear, well-organised presentations on topics related to you and your interests, supported with simple reasons and explanations.

Vocabulary & Kanji

Expand your kanji vocabulary beyond the N5 foundation, distinguishing the nuances between similar words.

Lesson structure

Frequently asked questions.

What if I cannot make it for the classes listed in the schedule?

Just let us know — we will find a slot for you. New group classes open regularly, and 1-to-1 students can even choose a new timing every week. Message us on WhatsApp and we'll sort it out.

How do lessons take place?

All lessons are live and online, daily from 9:00am to 10:30pm. You'll join a video call with your sensei, and we use tools like Google Classroom and Quizlet so you can submit worksheets for review — just as in a physical classroom.

How much do lessons cost?

All lessons start from $20 per lesson — WhatsApp us for the full pricing for your course and format. Fees are payable at the start of every 5 lessons; we send an invoice first, and you can pay via PayLah! or PayNow. Group discounts are available for private friends-and-family groups.

Do I need to buy my own textbook?

No need to hunt for one — we arrange your textbook and materials and deliver them straight to your doorstep, free of charge.

Which course or level should I choose?

Tell us about yourself and your goals, and we'll professionally assess which course and level suit you best before you start.

Is there a fixed number of lessons in each course?

No — the number of lessons depends greatly on each student's aptitude towards learning.

Do you offer a free trial?

We do offer a free level check for students: if you have prior learning experience, we will assess your Japanese for free and place you in exactly the right course and level. Complete beginners can jump straight into a class in Beginner 1 & 2 (JLPT N5).
